Safety Coordinator/Clearance Holder


Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Contract - W2

Duration- 12 months 

Primary Duties:

  • Manage safety and industrial hygiene expenses within budget, develop corrective actions & on-going tracking, monitoring and analysis of performance metrics to optimize the health and safety of employees.
  • Represent the client’s IH interests in meetings with stakeholder groups & industry organizations, interface & negotiate with regulatory agencies, City officials & community groups to assure conflict resolution and approval of cost effective/environmentally sound plans.
  • Provide regular reports/updates to all levels of management on program expenditures, environmental implications as it relates to the health and safety of employees, safety performance, human performance and compliance program status.
  • Develop & direct project plans for all IH remediation/safety compliance. Define responsibilities, project objectives, budget, schedule, performance requirements, quality and procurement plans, and shared project goals/interests with both internal and external stakeholders.  Provide oversight and supervision to individual project managers/leads/other stakeholders to implement these plans.
  • Coordinate project reconciliation following completion of projects and provide a summary report for lessons learned/best practices. Prepare or review reports of work in progress or completed projects.  Make presentations to inform and update both internal and external customers. Insure involvement of all affected parties.
  • Provide coaching, consultation and subject matter expertise and technical support on key safety and industrial hygiene issues such as exposure to lead, asbestos, cadmium, blood borne pathogens, respiratory hazards, indoor air quality, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and ergonomics.
  • Maintain compliance records including injury record keeping in accordance with federal regulation and ensure the confidentiality of employee personal information and medical conditions.

Position Specifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or technical curriculum with specific experience in environmental, safety, public health, or related functions
  • Successful completion of a board IH and/or safety certification such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or a college degree in a safety / occupational safety and health engineering or related field, and / or equivalent combination of college education / occupational safety and health experience.
  • A minimum of eight years related experience including at least three years industrial related work experience in industrial hygiene or safety.

  • Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interpret safety and health regulations including O.S.H.A., DOT, state requirements, etc.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet Company driving standards

Availability to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Note : This position is Part Time, 3 days a week currently.
