MS SQL Design Consultant

Location: Elizabeth, NJ 

Duration: 1 year

Job Description:

This position requires strong knowledge of MS SQL Server and Access, the ability to create new and maintain existing databases, and proficiency with VBA and SQL coding. 

Other Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Design tables, queries, forms and reports to support user requested enhancements.
  • Compose VBA code to satisfy requested functionality.
  • Provide creative input and design recommendations for database applications.
  • Recommend solutions and provide input during design sessions.
  • Manage versioning cycle for front –end/back-end database systems.
  • Document user requested enhancements and complete functionality feasibility audit.
  • Create interfaces and import/export processes from company databases to/from vendor supplied data in CSV or other data transfer formats.
  • Create test plans and perform system testing prior to release to production environment.
  • Document enhancements and create releases notes.
  • Modify existing interfaces and data transfer services between MS SQL Server, Access and Oracle data tables.
  • Create ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Attend meeting with end-users and document requests.
  • Preform training sessions.
  • Create and maintain webpages using HTML and/or Java.
  • Create and maintain reports using Business objects InfoView. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience building MS SQL Server and MS Access applications. 
  • Must have the ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of:
    • The company’s business applications.
    • Various operating and maintenance handbooks and manuals insofar as they pertain to his/her work, including the safety rules and practices set forth therein.
  • Must be able to work at various client locations based on business needs/workload
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve results.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server, MS Access and VBA.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of an integrated team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both MAST and bargaining unit associates.
  • Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated abilities in the areas of focused actionable planning, team building, communication, change management, project management.
  • Advance computer skills in MS Office and other Windows applications.

Desired Skills:

  • General knowledge of Crystal Reports, ESRI GIS and Web Development.
