QA Specialist/Arborist

Job Description:

Looking for contractors to provide field oversight of tree trimming companies contracted to complete an Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation program in which ash trees with risk of interfering with client's electrical facilities will be trimmed or removed to mitigate the risk to electrical service. 

The contractors will ensure the companies contracted to complete the work for the program are identifying the right trees to mitigate, choosing the appropriate mitigation method, and accurately reflecting the work on the work plan.  The contractors will approve the work plan, provide updates and information to the project manager, and perform safety audits and spot checks on tree trimming crews.  Upon completion of each work plan, the staffer will audit the completed work and approve the work package for payment.  The contractors will also handle escalated customer concerns and complaints and will perform other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities:  Will manage site safety including performance of safety audits.  Will Review/Manage Scope Change requests.  Will manage adherence to client's prints and standards.  Responsible for all activities involving quality assurance and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; conducts audits and reviews/analyzes data and documentation.

Skills and Experience Preferred

  •               Forestry / Arboriculture / Environmental / Biology degree –OR--
  •               Electric Utility Vegetation Management and/or Utility Arboriculture experience -OR-
  •               Arboriculture or Urban Forestry experience
  •               At least 2-5 years of experience in the field of Vegetation Management
  •               ISA Certified Arborist desired
  •               External customer contact and engagement experience required
  •               Safety (knowledge of ANSI Z133 and applicable OSHA requirements)
  •               Productivity (knowledge of tree work equipment and methods)
  •               Experience working with and managing contractors
  •               Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  •               Electrical utility experience is highly desired
  •               Contractors must have their own, reliable mode of transportation as the position will require them to travel to work sites on an as needed basis. Contractors will be eligible for a car allowance.

PPE/FR clothing will be required for this role and the contractor will be eligible for reimbursement once assignment has begun.  The required clothing equipment is as follows:  Class E Hardhat (un-branded), Safety Glasses, FR Clothing (pants, shirt, jacket), FR High Visibility Safety Vest, Steel Toe Work Boots (must either be non-skid for the snow/ice or they need strap on non-skids)
