Technical Support

Responsible for providing level 2 desktop support. Microsoft Windows 7/10 environment. Customer facing, responsible for managing a territory and addressing customer computer issues.

Primary Duties:

  • Provide End-User Desktop Hardware/Software Support.
  • Provide Expedited Executive Support, Video Conferencing and Managed Print Services.
  • Assist the business with IT customer engagement.

Position Scope:

  • Position interacts with all levels of employees including senior management on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with clients and infrastructure & operations groups as needed to translate and fulfill services.
  • Communicate and escalate any issues or actions that require management attention.
  • Understand IT Business Unit Client’s Direction, Structure, Applications and Requirements.
  • Perform IT Area (MDF, IDF, LAN Room) Site Inspections for compliance.
  • Maintain IT equipment loaner inventory to ensure compliance.
  • May work alone under adverse conditions for extended hours.
  • Perform various related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  1. Reliable transportation: Contractor will be asked to work at multiple client sites. They may report to Oakbrook one week then be asked to work at Bolingbrook the following week. We will try to keep the contractor close to their home so they are not traveling too far, but will need to support remote sites occasionally. We do pay mileage. We plan to have one contractor cover the north/central area (Mt. Prospect, Libertyville) and one south/central (Joliet/Bolingbrook). 
  2. Available for storm support. Although this does not happen regularly, the contractor must be available to work after hours and weekends to support storm restoration. When Client Services is asked to support storm centers or mobile vehicles, we work 12 hour shifts.
  3. Must have a smartphone, either Android or iOS. If a candidate has a Windows or other type of phone that does not run Android or iOS, they would need to change their phone or purchase a new one before starting.

Minimum Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field experience.
  • Passion for customer service orientation.
  • Effective interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, auto insurance and maintain a violation free driving record.
  • Able to pass required background and drug screenings.
  • Availability to report to work 24/7 on limited notice and for extended periods.
  • Candidates for this position must be willing to sign a Confidentiality Agreement with the Corporation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
  • Have a working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Windows.
    • Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Common VPN technologies (ex. Nortel, Cisco, Check Point, etc…)
    • Common Enterprise PDA devices (ex. Blackberry, Android, iPhone, etc…)
    • Microsoft Active Directory administration
    • Microsoft Managed Print Services
    • HP and Lenovo hardware repair
