Digital Communications Specialist

About the Position:

Our client is seeking a motivated communications professional with digital and social media experience to support communications projects aimed at informing, educating and engaging employees and stakeholders more effectively. This person will work with the External Communications Manager to develop and manage content for the client’s social media channels.

This person will also work with the Internal and External Communications Managers on a project to enhance the Generation division’s intranet and internet pages, which will include:

  • Coordinating and developing content for company internet and intranet pages.
  • Providing input on internet and intranet page design and functionality to the website vendor.
  • Working with the Generation Communications team to ensure their understanding of website tools and platforms once in place

Candidates must possess education or background in digital communications, excellent project management and communications skills, assertiveness, a keen eye for attention to detail, a positive attitude and the ability to be a self-starter. Experience in graphic/web design a plus.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinating and developing content for digital communications channels, including intranet, internet and social media.
  • Assisting with development of graphics and visual communications, and coordinating with branding agencies or other vendors as necessary.
  • Working closely with individual communicators at the plants to develop and update content for their plant’s intranet and internet pages.
  • Developing and managing content on social media channels.
  • Coordinating with other client departments as needed.
  • Handling administrative and other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • College degree in communications, digital communications, social media or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in digital communications and/or social media.
  • Excellent organizational, content management, written and verbal communications skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media channels, including Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines, and at times, under limited direction.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous internship experience in a corporate communications, advertising, marketing or public relations environment.
  • Familiarity with web content management systems.
  • Graphic design, visual art skills a plus.
  • Experience with Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
