Responsible for daily operations of strategic procurement for the Equipment & Materials Category. Assists the Director of Category Management (US) and the Category Manager in leading key teams and integration activities and is able to manage multiple, complex bid negotiations and strategies at one time. Executes standardized strategic sourcing processes for assigned categories. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal customers and key suppliers. Provides a balanced focus on customer service and cost savings. Identifies and captures new savings opportunities. Buyers typically work with sub-categories that have spend ranging from (USD)4 Million to (USD)250 Million.

Key Tasks:

  • Profiles sub category characteristics, researches supply markets and suppliers and assess trends, opportunities and risks .
  • Organizes information, tasks and activities using appropriate project management tools and resources .
  • Develops and applies selection criteria and evaluation methodology to match suppliers with requirements and develops a supplier portfolio .
  • Works in partnership with regional/global customers and is responsive to needs to ensure a proactive approach to supplier .
  • Plans and executes effective negotiation processes .
  • Scopes and develops regional/global contractual agreements that meet the regional/global category/customer requirements .
  • May take responsibility for a low complexity sub-category .
  • Supports supplier relationship management and contract relationship management .
  • Identifies and mitigates commercial risks, complies with global legislative requirements and identifies value adding opportunities to the supply relationships. .
  • Develops a customer-supplier relationship to maximize regional/global contractual benefits .
  • Monitors and review regional/global KPIs and jointly instigates performance development actions to improve supplier added value .
  • Supports implementation of procurement change initiatives (e.g. may be a change agent)

Main Interfaces:

Close working relationships are required with a number of major interfaces, namely: Director of Category Management (US) Assistant Buyer (Procurement) to execute required systems entry and contracts. Legal teams to ensure appropriate contract language Operations teams within the LoB who require the specified purchases as part of the day-to-day operating
