Reliability Engineer

Required to have a bachelors degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years engineering experience performing program and technical tasks in support of nuclear plant operations. Provides technical knowledge to develop engineering analysis, activities and programs. Provide technical leadership through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems. Performs engineering tasks independently. Participates in department specific tasks to Plant Engineering, Design Engineering, Programs Engineering, Engineering Services, and Nuclear operations. typically reports to a head of a unit/department.

Primary Duties:

  • Lead special initiatives to recommend and implement reliability, customer satisfaction or cost improvement measures.
  • Evaluate, develop, implement and lead projects with significant financial and operational impact.
  • Perform data analysis and complex engineering activities for various electric reliability programs with the intent to reduce frequency and/or duration of outages on distribution system.
  • Perform/complete conceptual engineering one-lines for reliability improvement.
  • Develop documentation and present business case for  capital approval process to obtain Mgr/Director or Sr. Leadership approval.
  • Interface with Distribution Planning, Reliability Maintenance & Planning Unit (RMPU) and other stakeholders to accomplish engineering tasks.
  • Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects.
  • Participates in department planning, provides budget recommendations and monitors performance for the accomplishment of committed results.
  • Perform assignments independently, and may lead multi-discipline teams.
  • Provide informal leadership (training, guidance) to other Engineers and Technicians.

Supervisor, Customer Reliability-NE or SW (TBD)

Job Specifications:

  • Knowledge of Electric Distribution system and Standards, Distribution Automation, Reliability programs and strategies.
  • Ability to utilize personal computers and desktop software such as MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point, etc.
  • Experience with computer systems such as Asset Suite 8, Primavera, Cymdist, C3, Atlas, ArcGIS.


  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team leader including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multi task environment.


  • 8+ years engineering experience
  • Experience with reliability programs at an electric utility
  • Bachelors degree in engineering
  • Desired:

o Masters degree in Engineering or Business
o PE License
