Sr. Network Architect

Job Title: Sr. Network Architect

Duration: 12 months (W2)

Location: Kennett Square, PA or Philadelphia, PA or Baltimore, MD

Our client requires someone with 15+ years' enterprise experience in the core competencies of routing, switching, WLAN, security (Cisco ASA Firewall) and VoIP (Cisco/Avaya) technologies within an enterprise environment.  They leverage a hands-on approach to our projects, as well as 100% accountable for network availability. Currently working on projects to architect, redesign, and upgrade the existing network infrastructure in support of the enterprise application and services consolidation and integration efforts. In addition,they are continuing to support the corporations continuing expansion efforts.


A successful candidate with be team oriented and also be comfortable operating with minimal guidance and direction.  Must be capable of supporting a mostly Cisco oriented environment and representing our team as a hands-on experienced technical resource. Responsible for overall design recommendations, procurement, configuration of Cisco route/switch, Wireless LAN, VoIP and Firewalls. Knowledge of small office MDF/IDF implementations is a plus. This would include ability to scope/estimate rack elevations, power, cooling, cabling standards for new builds or expansion.


Candidate must have the ability to travel within the continental U.S. to support various projects sponsored by Clients Business Units. Travel could be upwards of 50%+ of the candidate’s time. Travel would typically involve the build-out or expansion of new network services. This would include planning, design, configuration, deployment, testing and turnover of routers, switches, data/voice circuits from carriers, VoIP and WLAN. Candidate will serve as the single point of contact for these types of projects, with the expectation they will provide design and cost estimate recommendations to the project and formalize requirements for the new or expansion of services.


Below are some of the desired work experiences, hardware, disciplines, etc.:


Network architecture, design, configuration, administration, deployment, and use experience is required. Preferred vendor/model experience listed by priority:

Cisco Routers (3900, 7200, 4451, 1000 ASRs would be nice)

  • Strong EIGRP & BGP experience supporting inter-regional and DCI connectivity
  • QoS experience
  • MPLS experience
  • Multicast experience would be great

Cisco Switches (3800, 6500, Nexus, etc.) 

  • Strong experience supporting N2K, N5K, & N7K (N1Ks would be nice)
  • Extensive spanning tree knowledge

Cisco WAAS

  • Caching, compression, traffic shaping knowledge & experience
  • Next-Gen WAVE 8500 & AppNav experience would be nice


Security architecture, design, configuration, administration, deployment, and use experience is required. Preferred vendor/model experience listed by priority:

  • Cisco ASA (5510, 5550, & 5585 chassis)
  •  Checkpoint
  •  Cisco ISE (wireless corporate, guest, BYOD)
  •  Netscaler & Cisco ACE Load-balancers (DMZ)
  • Cisco GSS
  • Cisco Anyconnect (Looking to replace and/or supplement our Citrix and Cisco VPN client w/RSA)
  • Knowledge of CIP and compliance
  • B2B, ipsec VPN (experience with ip sla would be nice)
